The Enemies Of Your Focus

The Enemies of Your Focus

Recently, I had a vision where I was holding a baby inside of an unfamiliar home. An extensive amount of time passed within the dream, which caused me to have concern for the baby because I didn’t see a bottle. I began to look around for the home for a bottle, and I found one, assumed it was the infant’s bottle, and fed him or her. The baby sucked the bottle down in record time, and I could tell the baby was still hungry. I proceeded to venture into the kitchen of this unfamiliar home to find formula for the baby.

There was a familiar face in the kitchen and I asked this person to help me find another bottle and formula for the baby. This person agreed to help me immediately and proceeded to open the kitchen cabinets to search with me.

A few moments later, this person said, “You know what, we should go on vacation…”. Immediately, I cut this person off and said, “I’m only concerned about getting food for the baby right now, nothing else”.

The person responded, “Ok. I get it. I know I’m a distraction. I know I’m off”.

When I came out of the vision, I heard God say, “War for your focus”. Immediately, I sensed that the vision was a perfect depiction of what is happening to the pioneers spiritually. The war for focus is against the spirits who have the ability to deceive a person into thinking they are well intentioned.

In response to the vision, I set aside some time to sit down to write and the Holy Spirit revealed the spirits that the accuser has in his arsenal to plague the body of Christ in this hour.

The Spirit of Leviathan

The spirit of Leviathan has a multi-fold agenda, and we are seeing phase one of its plan. This spirit seeks to deceive individuals by twisting the truth and gaslighting. This creates strife and wastes time (which is something the pioneer does not have the luxury of wasting). When you see the workings of this spirit, remove yourself immediately and focus more intently on what God has assigned to you. Deny the enemy the right to waste your time!

Leviathan is an epitome of a stumbling block because it blatantly opposes the advancement of the work of God. In Job 41:31, Leviathan is described as the “king over all of the children of pride”, and pride is how this spirit harasses the children of God. When it is exposed, it’s wrath can be spiritual lethal. Beware, those who are under the influence of Leviathan may refuse to repent or receive correction. When challenged, it will spew venom (this will be discussed in detail under the section entitled “Blame”). Refer to Proverbs 26:20-28:

For lack of wood the fire goes out, and where there is no whisperer, quarreling ceases.

As charcoal to hot embers and wood to fire, so is a quarrelsome man for kindling strife.

The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels; they go down into the inner parts of the body.

Like the glaze covering an earthen vessel are fervent lips with an evil heart.

Whoever hates disguises himself with his lips and harbors deceit in his heart; when he speaks graciously, believe him not, for there are seven abominations in his heart; though his hatred be covered with deception, his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.

Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and a stone will come back on him who starts it rolling.

A lying tongue hates its victims, and a flattering mouth works ruin.

The spirit of Leviathan loves division and has been tasked by the accuser to taint reputations and sever necessary connections by twisting the truth. Do not focus on the scrutiny, look to the hills (Psalm 121). Despite the agenda of Leviathan, we serve the great contender. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we will be able to overcome every weapon that is fashioned against us.

Proverbs 14:5 ESV

Fools mock at the guilt offering, but the upright enjoy acceptance.

Psalm 74:22 ESV

Arise, O God, defend your cause; remember how the foolish scoff at you all the day!

Declarations:

I decree that I am covered in the blood of Jesus, therefore the schemes of Leviathan do not have authority over me.

I decree that evil waters cannot flow in my life.

I decree that the foot of pride is not able to stand against me.

I decree that I will not be oppressed Leviathan for Jesus Christ is my savior.

I decree that every evil trap set up for me by Leviathan has malfunctioned and cannot be repaired (Psalm 140:5).

The Spirit of Rejection

This spirit of rejection also has a multi-fold purpose in this hour. This spirit exploits innate need to belong and be desired, which can lead to performance driven worship. Additionally, this spirit manipulates by fueling our need to please others to avoid strife or conflict, but in this hour, there will be inevitable conflict. Under no circumstance should we seek the approval of Pharisees and Sadducees. Jesus, the Lord of Sabbath, had contention with religious gatekeepers and we can expect to continue in this same conflict. In Luke 13:10-17, Jesus healed a woman with a spirit of infirmity and the ruler of the synagogue became indignant because the healing was done on the Sabbath. The ruler’s reasoning was demonically induced and meant to limit the advancement of the ministry of Christ. In verse 15-17, Jesus Christ responded bluntly to the leader:

Then the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?” As he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame, and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him.

Jesus was clearly more concerned with doing what was right rather than gaining approval from his peers. The spirit of rejection desires adoration and our adoration should be reserved for the worship of Yahweh and no one else. Furthermore, we are in a perpetual war against the flesh and our inner man. This requires confrontation, not people pleasing. This is not the time to be passive aggressive concerning our sin, wrong decisions, negative thinking, doubt or the manners of evil that come from the heart. We must rise up and defend our focus from the spirit of rejection if we want to experience the fruit of this labor.

The other purpose of the spirit of rejection is to surround you with individuals who are emotionally and spiritually draining and who also have unfair expectations of you regarding your time and attention. In other words, the enemy wants to guilt trip you into entertaining distractions by exploiting the inner wound traumas of those around you.

As the Lord continues to reveal the motives of these spirits, it may be challenging to walk in love and patience with these individuals. However, I urge you to pray for them by name in your time of intercession and ask God to help you love them, even if it’s from a distance. Pray for them to be released from the shackles and also decree that the Lord is the center of their joy, provision, and reason for living – not you.

Remember, the spirit of rejection is fighting for your attention, and you must starve it. God has given you clear (and time sensitive) directions and a blueprint for this era. There is no time for delay. Obeying God must be the priority at all costs.

Colossians 4:5-6 ESV

Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

1 Samuel 30:8 ESV

And David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I pursue after this band? Shall I overtake them?” He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake and shall surely rescue.”

Declarations:

I decree that I do not operate behind time.

I refuse all delays in Jesus name.

I decree that I walk in love and forgiveness.

I decree that every leech assigned to drain me has been removed in Jesus name.

I decree that rejection has no legal right to my identity.

I decree that I am full of confidence and boldness.

The Spirit of Pride

Pioneers are often harshly criticized for their ideas and movements because it goes against the social norm. Advancement in the kingdom of God triggers the pride of the Pharisee. There will be a temptation to defend yourself and expose the flaws of your adversary, but do not yield to this temptation, it is trap to lead you into haughtiness. The Lord will defend you, continue to build and rise above the taunts of the enemy.

James 4:6 ESV

But he gives more grace. Therefore, it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Nehemiah 6:1-3 ESV

Now when Sanballat and Tobiah and Geshem the Arab and the rest of our enemies heard that I had built the wall and that there was no breach left in it (although up to that time I had not set up the doors in the gates), Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying, “Come and let us meet together at Hakkephirim in the plain of Ono.” But they intended to do me harm. And I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work and I cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and come down to you?”

Proverbs 29:11 ESV

A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.

Proverbs 25:11 ESV

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.

Proverbs 14:23 NIV

All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

Monitoring Spirits

Monitoring spirits are being deployed to delay the pioneers who have been assigned to build in this hour. Consequently, this does not mean that it is time shut down your social media presence or shrink back in your public speaking assignments. Now, it’s time to pray strategically to shut down the enemy’s operations through intercessory prayer.

One of the ways to combat monitoring spirits is to be discerning in all of your conversations. Monitoring spirits gain ground through fruitless conversations. Exercise wisdom and discretion because the enemy is killed at deceiving others into thinking he is harmless.

I have an example that the Holy Spirit led me to share:

During a random conversation with an associate, I mentioned that I was going to be busy the following week with an initiative that I started earlier in the year. The person responded, “Oh, you ARE still doing that? Hmm.” I responded happily, “Yes, it’s doing really well and I’m happy I did it”. Then the associate said, “Hmm. How did you do that again?” I discerned a hidden motive so I kindly responded, “Why?”.

The person was startled, but not in a sense where they felt disrespected, they were just caught off guard. Immediately, they changed the subject. When I ended the call, the Lord spoke to me and said, “Dee, use discretion. Don’t provoke to envy”.

I immediately repented because it wasn’t my intention to provoke anyone to envy. As I went into prayer, I realized that releasing that little nugget of information may have seemed harmless to me, but I didn’t take the time to discern the heart of the person on the other line. I opened the door to a monitoring spirit and a spirit of envy through carelessness. Let this example become wisdom to you, use discretion in all of your conversations.

Psalm 37:32 ESV

The wicked watches for the righteous and seeks to put him to death.

Psalm 121:7-8 ESV

The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

Declarations:

I decree that every monitoring spirit assigned to track my progress be sent into confusion and disarray.

I decree that I am hidden in Christ.

I decree that I am surrounded by people that God desires to be in my life.

I sever all ties between me and any monitoring spirits assigned to disrupt my peace and cause delay.

Blame/Projection

As you obtain favor from the Lord to build and complete your assignment, there will be opposition from individuals who will rise up and blame pioneers for their delay and spiritual immaturity. This is slightly different from a person who is under the influence of envy. Blame is a defense mechanism used by individuals to cope with feelings of inadequacy or insecurity, similar to a spirit of accusation. The enemy’s purpose is to create an army of individuals fueled by their misplaced anger and emotions to stand against God’s anointed. Reacting emotionally will only escalate the situation and give the enemy what he desires (which is conflict, strife, distraction and delay). Your weapon against this spirit is simple: a boundary. Additionally, be intentional about guarding our mind against word curses that will attempt to attach to your identity. Furthermore, it’s important to remember that their issue is not about you. Release them to sort their issues out with God, bless them and move forward.

Psalm 91:1

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

I decree that through the blood of Jesus I am blameless.

I decree that the blood of Jesus decrees that I am not guilty.

I decree that I am covered by the blood of Jesus.
